New Tool Library READABILITY

Lets compare new and old readability.

A notable observation, by comparing the pictures, which were just created, and the screen cast, which was created prior to the latest update, we lost the tool info panel on the old tool library.

I'm totally with you on that point. I'm using the new library, but man, is it not easy on the eyes.....

I've had the same gripe, but Autodesk is very proud of their Artifakt font so I'm really not expecting them to concede unless enough people complain. Maybe they'll reduce the font weight at the very least.

*Technically* you can customize the font if you're willing to get down and dirty (I'm not sure if Autodesk will appreciate me sharing this but whatever). The new tool library is styled using CSS, so if you dig in and edit those files, you can change some things around . I changed the typeface, font weight, letter spacing, and added gridlines. Much easier on the eyes now.

I'm sure your customizations will get wiped out every time there's an update (at the very least), but it's a workaround. If this doesn't get corrected I'm going to just write a script.

Thanks for the feedback! We did complete tasks earlier this year to improve the legibility of the text but looks like maybe we didn't do enough. We have a task to increase the density of the library and I have asked the development team for ideas to help the readability further.

Thanks

I posted the readability screencast and expounded on the facets of readability months ago in another thread.  I was assured it was being taken into account.  Perhaps pride is preventing this from being thoroughly addressed. Please write the script or make a video how to make the edits; I'd love to give the new tool library a proper test drive.

@gtprototype, DM me your email address and I'll shoot you over the info. I'd rather not post it publicly, because of the risk of someone seeing this and thinking it is an actual proper way to mod their software, and then accidentally breaking everything.

Yeah, I looked at the host of CSS files and realized my lack of experience in that area could easily break everything.

Pete,

With less than 10 minutes work you single handedly solved my problem. Thank you! Thank you!  I wasn't able to correct everything I hoped (I am a noob at this) however, I can actually read the tool library and give it a try now! Let me say it again, THANK YOU!

Still working at it (I'm a total noob at this) but it's getting better!
