New Tool library manager problems.

Been really busy so not had time to look at the new tool library manager. Just enabled it today and as far as I can see no way to  sort by tool number so that's it, turn it off in preferences and go back to the old one!

Also had some errors about invalid tools that clear after a few seconds before you can read what's wrong. I noticed a couple of my libraries had warning and when I hover over the warning it give an error that's unreadable. Hope the old libraries not going away any time soon!

Ok I see now you can change the columns and add tool number but doesn't look like you can rearrange the order of columns. Also note from my picture above you really need different columns for Mill, Lathe, etc. or it doesn't make much sense.

Now I see any customisation of columns is not saved so as soon as you close the library they're lost, hope this is not how it's going to work in the future!

All the things you are seeing are being worked on, and don't worry, the old library ain't going anywhere until the new library is well fleshed out

Edit Thanks @seth.madore Don't have much time to invest in test this at the moment but good to know someone's listening.

I also have a request, I've made this before. Can you display whole number cutters with a decimal point, so 5.0mm not just 5mm.

Here's why, if I search for a 5.5 cutter all I get are cutters with 5.5mm in the description. This also doesn't work as well in the new library manager because you also have tool length in the description. Why's that been added, you have a column for tool length, don't need it in the description as well.

Old library.

New library!

Now if I try that with 5mm i get hundreds of tools! If I could use 5.0mm I'd only get a few.

Have to agree with other posts I've seen about the new manager, it's not as efficient as the old one. Most people using the manufacture workspace are going to be engineers, we don't care about pretty we want fast and efficient. The first thing I do when I get a new PC is turn off all the bells and whistles and go back to the classic desktop layout, don't want distractions.

Give it a bit longer, they've made a ton of progress in the last few updates. There's a reason it's still a preview. I'm dealing with some of the incomplete features and using it daily because the cutting data presets and a few other new features (apply holder to tool and parsing lathe holder/insert codes for example) are super nice to have. There's a big thread over here https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/fusion-360-manufacture/new-tool-library/m-p/9462322#M79614 where you can read some of the feedback others have given and see the developer updates and changelogs.

I bet within 1-2 more updates it'll be just as good as the old one. The stupid little stuff like remembering your columns and minor formatting adjustments probably aren't terribly difficult to sort out and they're well aware of it.
