NC file naming

Apologies if this is a very basic question but I'm new to F360.

When saving a cam file, Fusion automatically comes up with a number e.g. 1001. Instead of this, can I simply rename it  in appropriate text rather than in numbers?

@Anonymous

Yes you can, in Setup under the "Post Processor" tab there is a box labeled Program Name/Number, just type in there the number or name and it will be posted out at the beginning of your code in brackets.

See image below.

Just to clarify for anyone else coming into this thread;

There are many post processors that will reject anything but a 4 digit number in the top box, while accepting anything in the bottom. To name your file something other then the 4 digit will take a post edit. It's not cumbersome, just flipping some things around and deleting some warning messages

Thanks for this Seth.

I use Carbide Motion with my Shapeoko 3 and luckily it reads text files so
I can name the nc file anything I want. Really useful I find.

Hi,

Can you "flip" those things around for the general Fanuc pp to be able to post my NC file name with alphanumerical characters?

Thanks!
