Model Gouge Warning

Attached is a test project I made of a part (cut up) I program in PowerMill. I am trying to justify moving our programming over to fusion. I have generated a couple tool paths in fusion and each of them shows a green  check mark :

But each and every one of these tool paths gouge and have collisions with tools. I understand  that I can see these issues when I simulate (except for the drill which shows green in simulate).

Why let these path generate in the first place? Simulating some parts or a whole set up takes a lot of time to buffer and having to move into simulation is repetitive, instead of immediate feedback.

My question is am I doing something wrong? Is there a setting to let me know of gouges and collisions without simulation?

Hi

I Believe Powermill checks toolpaths for collisions on calculation but Fusion does not for 2d toolpaths.

2D toolpaths are not "Model Aware"

The green check mark in Fusion tells you that

  1. The toolpath has calculated successfully with no errors(not including collisions)
  2. When Solid Green the IPS(In Process Stock) has finished calculating

There is no way currently to check for issues other than to simulate the toolpaths.

I haven't used powermill so I'm not exactly sure on the differences.

That's what I was afraid of. Powermill will give an error if you have gouge checking turned on. Something like that would be useful in fusion where it at least warns you of model gouging when turned on but can be disabled.

Are the collisions intentional to test Fusion, just to compare?

For the drilling toolpath at least there is a (new) method that will get what you want on the first tab there is a section for the items to check in the toolpath:

Including gouge checking the tool - we also gouge check the link moves by default. If this is enabled the toolpath will report and collisions / gouges and not display a green tick.

This section is not on by default for drilling. For the other 2D toolpaths we currently dont have such checking at the moment. Coming from PowerMILL development I and others are looking into having a way of giving a more consisntent and detailed view of what safety status's exist on the toolpath and what things have been checked against.
