milling issue in CAM fusion360

Hi guys,

I've got an recent issue I had not before on 2D contour :

The cutter come to its toolpath (2D contour) in the piece I my machining, instead at from the stock I do not need.

I though it came from the selected tool but no. I tried to check the RAMPE option, neither.

You  know the way the tool approach the piece at the really beginning, it goes down first near the toolpath line, and then start cutting along the toolpath (blue line). Usually it goes well : the tool mill down external to my piece and then cut along my piece, but now it plunge straight to the piece 😞 So attacking the piece from the wrong side... I attached a pic ....

That could be a setting issue, or something else entirely. What is the machine and controller?

Was this job run in multiple depth cuts, or plunge to depth?

How was the part secured; Was it taped down, vacuum table, tabs?

Lastly, could you share your file so we could take a glimpse at your settings?

File > Export > Save to local folder. Return to this thread and attach the .f3d in your reply

That is because all 4 of your contour operations have the arrow pointing the wrong direction. See attached picture.

When you select a contour it tries to guess which way you want to be going. This guess can be wrong if it's selected a certain way. Clicking on the arrow will force it to go on the other side of the feature.

Sorry for bothering again, I tought I was definetively good but still a tricky point :

I have kind of the same problem, even by adjusting the red arrow from one way to the other, my toolpath starts in my piece 😞

What is strange is for the other squares I am machining it works well, and for the last one nop ... althought my piece is symetrical...

That's because you've only selected a partial (open) chain/contour on the last square. I'm uploading a screencast to show you how to fix it. It takes a few minutes, so I'll update when it's finished

OK thank you very much.

I did that (only one chain / this curve) cause as taking the whole contour it did not work. I did not manage to manually make the contour, adding one line after another.. The chain did not close... Fusion does not propose the last curve, the last segment to close the chain... 😞

Thanks again for your help the other day.

Athough my cutting went very well, I have two questions to well understand the software and the cutting. Indeed, I had two difference between my model and the piece from the CNC cutting :

Mistake / Question #1 :

One of the face inside my model (a chassis for canvas) is curiously tilt ! This face (actually there are two) is not straight, vertical, just like the other ones... By the way I had the same issue, the same result with another cutting a while back (although it was all squares and classical easy modeling)

All is fine, all the face are vertical the same, but during the cutting, one goes tilt, inclined... It does not really matter in my case because it is inside my model, but I just wanna understand 😉

Mistake / Question #2 :

The last sequence of my CAM, the 3D contour on the upper face, did not go symetrical, although in the model it was symetrical...

This toolpath starts a bit aside of the edge of the model. This is waht I want, to keep the edge clear from any cutting. There are a few millimeters where the toolpath does not go; that's what I want. 

But curiously, during the cutting there was a gap, like a shifting I don't know... So it means the first line of the toolpath, well the first loop actually is not symetrical... Till the end. 

Can you understand such a gap ?
