Machine setup orientation

Hi everyone,

I'm having a problem with the component orientation on the machine. If the WCS is aligned with the component and machine direction, everything works fine, but when I change the WCS orientation, the component's orientation on the machine also changes, and I can't find a way to orient it correctly. Do you have any ideas?

Hello

 

Your definition of the Work Coordinate System in the setup was correct at the beginning.

 

What you need to do is assign a Tool Orientation Coordinate System to the surfaces you want to machine that are not perpendicular to the Z-axis of the WCS.

This is my understanding of the current situation, the Z axis of your WCS must be parallel to the Z axis of the machine simulation. So, place your parts and fixtures with a WCS at the centre of rotation and Z parallel to your machines Z axis. Then create a UCS or something that matches the orientation of the physical machine setup with the Z axis of the UCS parallel to the face of your pyramid fixture. You can then program everything using a UCS. 

But here comes the catch, you must then modify your post processor to map all the coordinates against your UCS, that way any TWP ( tilted work planes ) operations and 5 axis operations are output relative to your UCS and not the WCS 

Oh and god help you if you forget to select your your UCS for one of the operations. 😁 Boom. 
Fusion will simulate everything against the WCS, so it will be fine. But the post will then output against the UCS................🤔
