Laser marking to surface of sheet metal

Hello, I am designing a bracket out of 3/16" steel that I will be laser cutting out.

On one side I would like to make some marking lines (to speed up part aligning during production before welding so I don't have to measure every time). Surface markings only, not all the way through. Another reason is I'd like to mark part numbers onto the surface of each part for easy identification.

Laser is outsourced, not in-house. 4000W capacity. I've seen it done elsewhere and I'd like to know how I should design my part so any cutting service provider will produce the same result.

I've attached images that show projected lines where i will be welding another part to. Thank you in advance.

I think that's really going to be a question for your laser shop. Are you giving them .dxf files or solid models? Have they indicated what they want?

If this was being done in house, you could just set your "Cutting Mode" to "etch" and have your post processor configured to output a low power setting. In regards to how you are going to get that info passed on to your sub contractor, I am uncertain. If you are giving them .dxf files produced by the DXF post processor, it's limited in what info it can pass though; basically just the toolpath contour lines...

Thanks for the reply. I am sending them dxf files. They have not indicated
exactly what they want, other than send us the files. I'm also not sure
what type of lines or any kind of face or body splitting I should be doing.
I wonder if it is a matter of putting some text or solid lines and just
indicating to them via email what parts are to be low power marked. I've
never done this before so I'm trying to wrap my head around the whole thing.

I'm into the same issue. The company I hire for laser cutting told me that it is simple - everything in yellow lines will be marked/written on the surface. It is really simple when you use AutoCad. But how can I create such a marking in Fusion 360? Sometimes I need the parts marked. Or as hmortim suggested getting the marks by laser for welding afterwards.
