Howto split a body from .3mf

Hi, my first post, hope it is not too stupid.

I loaded a .3mf file to fusion 360. The design seems to be a single body, I can only select it as one part. Now I want to cut off parts. I click on  'modify' ->'split body'. I choose 'select' in the 'Split Body' window, but I cannot select anything.

What is the trick?

Have you created a Plane to use to the split the Model ? Found under the "Construct" tab in the Design Mode.

Can you upload your Fusion f3d file?

Go to :-

File > Export > Select f3r format > Save to a location on your computer > Then attach it to your reply using the "Attachments" facility below your reply box.

Thank you, recieved your file.

As it is a Mesh body then you need to be in the Mesh environment, there you can select the "Plane Cut" function to cut the body using the "Origin" Planes, to maybe show it better I have done a small Screencast that may help you. Just click on the link and wait for the Screencast to launch 🙂

Hi,

THX, but it does not work yet. I do not get the choice for cutting the body, see my screenshot. I do not have the symbol between 'Plastic' and 'sheet metal' that you have chosen to cut the body. Fusion is not aware that it is a 'mesh body', I suppose.

How do I tell?

In your Screenshot the "Mesh" tab is in a different position to mine, it is the third from the left, see image below.

Ah,  'Mesh' means I'm working on a mesh.
