How to set a specific TOOL COMPENSATION POINT?

I am looking to have this feature added to the lathe side please.

I am wondering if there is a way to set a tool compensation points other than just the 4 options we have?

TIP CENTER

TIP

TIP CENTER

TIP TANGENT

I have many parts that the tool position is crucial for centerline and tool holders vary with where the actual center line of the insert truly is... but if we have this option to create a tool compensation point we can have more first part buy offs, less manual data offsets and risk of a wrong number being entered, and a possible crash from happening.

Second question sort of related,

The 1st screen shot for some reason has the insert not even on the tool body.

I have defined the insert and tool body but not sure why this looks like this?

@JonSchaeffer we have a ticket to add a custom compensation point, however there is no ETA on when it will be done. As to the strange tool model can you attach your file here so I can get someone on the tool library team take a look?

That is great news!

Anxiously waiting for these updates.

Also I could not find a way to export the tool in question.

I am not allowed to share the whole file NDA reasons.

Is there a way to share just the tool?

Is there someone you can get me in touch with that I can offer help with the lathe updates?

We do a lot of complex turning here and we have a lot of suggestions and needs for the lathe portion of Fusion 360.

I am a Fusion 360 "Early Adopter" and have had quite a few ideas added to Fusion 360 in the past when there was an Idea Station.

To clarify; you're able to export the tool, but not share it to the forum, is that right? Or do I have it the other way around..

If so, just dump it into a ZIP folder and attach that here instead

Right I can export it but the file type is not allowed.

I think I tried a zip file originally, but I will try again.

You could create an empty lathe CAM file and copy the tool in it, then export the usual Fusion file, might be simpler.

@JonSchaeffer I'm seeing the tool issue in the production version but not in my dev version so it's likely that it has been fixed already.
