How to import / add to an existing project?

Is it possible to import an existing file / body into another project ?  If yes, how?

I have build an adapter that I want to use as a component in another project.

Yes, simply right-click on the design of that adapter in the data panel in Fusion 360 and select "insert into current design" from the menu.

You might want to consider breaking the link to that inserted design after insertion.
