How do I remove a tool holder from library tool?

Ever since the update, any new tool I create has a tool holder associated to it, even if I didn't want one. I do not see a way to get rid of it. Hopefully I am missing something. Anyone else run into this?

Oh. My. Goodness. You're right. I've been pulling tools out of my library, and they don't have holders. Create a new tool (not borrow from samples) and sure enough, there is a holder. WTF.

@paul.clauss is this seriously by design, or is there an oversight somewhere? I can see having all the samples loaded up with holders, but created tools as well?!

Glad it wasn't just me. On that note... why can't I just remove it? Even the samples. Sometimes I find a drill or something in the samples and want to use it, but don't want the holder. But there is no checkbox for no holder... Not end of the work, but certainly annoying.

Agree. There should be an option to use the tool without the holder.

On the bright side, they did make it all transparent, so there's that, I suppose

I found a workaround, although annoying as it may be.

Create a tool holder and save it to your local (or cloud library). Name it something for easy identification. I named mine "Invisible!" 

Give it no geometry. You can now select that "holder" from the available holders list:

Looks like you are correct - I created some new tools and also could not find a way to omit the holder, apart from Seths workaround in the last post.

As I do not believe that this change was intentional, I have logged a bug (CAM-6786) and will keep this thread updated as I have more information to share. Thanks for bringing this to our attention!

Great thank you. I do want to note that there wasn't ever a way to remove the holder. There just wasn't one on the tool be default before. I would love a way to actually remove it without having to create a whole new tool.

That was more or less discussed in this IdeaStation post, but I think the final decision was NOT to include that feature

Please, please, please, please include the feature to turn off tool holders.   I just want to make the holder go away.   Please.
