Help with pocket

I'm doing a pocket on an electric guitar.  It is machined from both sides.  I'm having trouble getting something to work.

I was able to do the ledges (circled in red) with a 2D Pocket but the rest of the pocket remains. Any ideas?

It's really difficult to comment without seeing the file (can you post it?) or at least seeing some pics of the tool paths that you are getting. 

 

Assuming the tool is of reasonable size and has appropriate flute length (in the tool definition), tend to think there is a problem with the geometry selection or something on the heights tab.

I found a solution for this.  I used the 3D Pocket feature and used the Model option to select the faces on the sides and contours of the pocket.

Here is the result.

I highly recommend trying 3D Adaptive Clearing and seeing what you get, it'll probably be nicer on the machine and tooling too Smiley Wink

I tried the 3D Adaptive Clearing on this and I got some bizzare results.  I selected the exact same faces as the 3D Pocket.  Any idea what caused this?

You shouldn't need to select any surfaces, just give the toolpath a boundary to work within. I'll see if I can mock something up real quick.

 

Edit: please check out the attached .f3d file. I haven't done anything with the speeds and feeds and really haven't defined the operation by much, but the Geometry tab should help you get yours sorted out.

Wow, somehow I missed that.  That method is waaaaay better!!!  Much easier and cleaner!  I just redid my recess using 2D Adaptive.  Thanks!!!
