Help with milling a cylinder on a 4th

Anonymous
Not applicable

I am having problems milling a cylinder when using a 4th axis. I am trying to mill a cylinder from square stock. The center of rotation on the 4th will be around the x axis.

I included a sample file

Thanks

hey @Anonymous

There is no direct method that to machine a cylinder with 4 axis for that you have to work with some patch work

and you can use wrap tool path to achieve this please find the below attached file

Hope it helps, Maybe some other have a different work around.

Better 3 axis program is best suitable for this.

Cheers,

@Boopathi_Sivakumar sadly, no, there isn't much of a better solution for this at this point. 4 axis work in Fusion is still in it's infancy (even though it's been around for a couple years). Someday though.....

You have to be really careful using this cheat the only time I used it I modeled the stock and the chuck in and made sure there were clearances at each end.

I usually do it with this addon https://apps.autodesk.com/FUSION/en/Detail/Index?id=3003630592139047508&appLang=en&os=Win64

on my iMac, I use the coil command.

You think of it like threading you have the spacing as you width of cut and the bottom hight is where you want it to cut down to you have this bit as your real model, the coil section is just for the getting the sketch you can just turn its body off once you have the sketch you use include 3D Geometry to get the sketch.

You have the coil so it is inside the model and have it longer at each end.
