Help with Machine Configuration - NGC VF3SS/TRT-160 A/C

I am looking for documentation on how to correctly set up a machine configuration for a next gen VF3SS/TRT-160 A/C trunnion setup.  DWO/TCPC enabled.  I have it set up and working OK for positional 3+2, but I'm having issues with any simultaneous 5-axis.  What changes if any need to be made to the default Haas NGC post processor?  I am having trouble finding any information on how to correctly set the kinematics and Multi-Axis settings under machine configuration.  I have changed the default HAAS with AB-axes to AC, but not sure how to set the rotary kinematics... or if anything even needs to be changed.  I know that the TRT-160 max feedrate is much slower than the default 60RPM.  Also, not sure if the default settings under Multi-Axis are correct for the TRT-160. (Linearization method, Feedrate method, etc.)

Hello,

 

I do a ton of 5ax on my VF4SS with a TR210. For your machine configuration:

 

A Axis (tilt) :

Max speed is 104°/s = 17.33 RPM

Min -120 Max 120

Resolution 0.001"

Orientation X = 1 Y = 0 Z = 0

 

C Axis (platter):

Max speed is 104°/s = 17.33 RPM

Min -999.999 Max 999.999

Cyclic Checked (Means C can continuously rotate since the limit is not physical but numeric, on NGC its 999999999999.99 deg)

Orientation X = 0 Y = 0 Z = 1

 

For the Multi-axis page:

I have linearization method set to off.

TCP On

Feedrate method TCP

 

As for kinematics it should look like this:

Y linear -> X linear -> A Rotary -> C Rotary -> Table

Thank you!  The only things I was missing were TCP feedrate method and I had the max feedrates at 17RPM instead of 17.33RPM.  Is there any documentation out there that covers these machine configuration settings?

Hi, thank you for posting such helpful information about machine configuration. I am currently in the initial stages of learning 5 axis machining. I just received my 2021 VF4SS with TR200Y and was hoping for some help setting up the machine correctly in fusion 360. We have the Trunnion on the right side of the table, with the B axis rotating about the Y axis.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

After speaking at length with someone at Autodesk, they suggested not using the machine configuration yet as it is still a work in progress...  All you need to do is get the latest NGC post and change a few of the post properties in the post process dialog box.  Set machine model to 'none', Has A-Axis rotary 'No', Has B-axis rotary 'Yes' or if rotation is backwards 'Reversed', Has C-axis rotary 'Yes' or if rotation is backwards 'Reversed'.  That should be all you need to do.
