generating pencil toolpath

Hi everyone,

Any tips on how I can utilize the pencil tool path properly? every time I try to generate a pencil toolpath it progresses very slowly. What I think is happening is that maybe I'm not selecting the correct geometry and its trying to generate a heavy toolpath hence taking a long time. any suggestions?

Hi @Anonymous

Thanks for posting! The Pencil strategy is intended to machine internal corners and fillets of smaller or equal radius to the tool corner. The pencil toolpaths could be taking a long time to generate due to conflicting tool and model geometries.

I would recommend having a look at this learning page about the Pencil toolpath strategy. What is the intended use of the Pencil operation in your part? Which internal corners/radii are you trying to machine with Pencil? You may be able to tweak the parameters for Bitangency Angle and Pencil Overthickness to allow the toolpath to generate more efficiently.

Hopefully this helps! Please feel free to share your Fusion 360 design with me and I am happy to look further into this issue.
