G-Code Highlighter for Brackets

I was feeling inspired this week, and took a stab at writing an extension to highlight g-code files in Brackets like below:

 

Let me know what you guys think! 

(here's a video that's like 30 seconds and shows how to load the extension 🙂 )

Just kidding! Good to bring this back up.  Why isn't this distributed with Fusion?

That looks really neat! Question though: Is Brackets ever affected by Fusion updates, or does it take something significant to have any impact on Brackets?

Hi Martha,

I've downloaded and installed the Simple G-Code Syntax Highlighter for Brackets.  It works great for newly posted programs but I notice that for files downloaded from my machines the hightlighting doesn't work.  Is there a known reason for this?  Thanks.

Hey William,

All the file extensions for which files Brackets identifies as NC code are hardcoded into the extension, so if the file you're downloading from the machine isn't included then it won't have the colors applied. You should be able to tell Brackets that it's "G-Code" with the list in the bottom corner and I think even set the default type for that extension.

Dare I say visual code with the code hilighter installed is a bit nicer than brackets 

hilights jarvasctipt and gcode very well

win and Mac are available 

I keep getting errors about brackets in Mac OS because it’s looks like it’s 32bit

@Stuart-H  VSC has a post-editing addon for fusion and HSM post-processors as well.

FYI, we are planning to move away from Brackets as the default NC code (etc.) editor for Fusion. This is due to new requirements for MacOS, which Brackets does not meet.

You are, of course, free to continue to use Brackets as a "custom editor" via the preferences setting.
