Fusion 360 as CAM program

Hi everybody

I recently bought a Haas ST-20Y turn/milling machine with subspindle and barfeeder.

the purpose is to use this machine for serie work (500pcs +) at a time.

I was thinking of starting this machine with fusion 360, and the more I work with fusion 360 the easier it gets.

Now my question is, because fusion is relativelly cheap compared to other softwares packages, it looks to have all the features I need. (spindle take over,...)

Is there something I am missing that I should know before I make my definite decision about what program I am going to use?

I hear alot of discusissions about the postprocesors of other software, they charges up to 5000euro and fusion is free?

also what about the service, if I have a question about how something should be made, who can I contact for this?

Welcome to the forums! There is quite the relationship between Haas and Fusion, our post processors should work straight out of the gate. There may be some tweaks needed if you want to see your code in a certain format, such as when the coolant comes on, or where it retracts too for tool changes. But otherwise, it should be good to go!

As for questions, this forum is quite the valuable resource. I, and others on the forum, are experienced machinists ranging from 2 to 5 axis work, as well as a fair amount of mill/turn work. Myself, I own a Doosan Lynx LSYB and a couple VMC's, so there is plenty of knowledge to be shared.

And yes, I program all my work in Fusion, it handles almost everything I need. There have been some edge cases where I've had to "finger-cam" something, but those instances are rare

What exactly are you trying to accomplish:

1) Position for machining

2) Position for bar pull/part transfer?

The mist collector can be handled a couple different ways:
1) Hardcoded into the post processor so it turns on at the beginning and end of program

2) Hardcoded so it turns on at every tool and off at the end of the program

3) Manual NC and just insert it into the program wherever needed
