Flat Area Detection - 3D Adaptive - 2D Model Aware

Two quick questions:

1.  With 3D Adaptive; when should I use flat area detection.  This model has lots of flat area... How do I know when to use it?

2:  With the following 2D Adaptive, the geometry selection is round, but the tool path generated is not.  It is acting like it is model aware.  What is happening?

Simple answer:

  1.  Always, unless the calculation time is causing you issue's
  2. Most probably because you have "stock contours" enabled.

Thanks Laurens.  I find this confusing because I did not have Stock Contours enabled.

It seems that 2D Adaptive defaults to the setup's stock contour these days. Can you confirm that @seth.madore ?

Huh, that's odd. I wonder what @richardsalzman will see in Compare and Edit 🤔

Hey Seth.  I am not sure what you mean by that.

flat area detection means it will somewhat override your fine stepdown values so that it correlates with your flat surface instead of a incremental raise in Z.
