Feed rate change

I was wondering if there is a way/trick to change the feed rate in the same operation.

I attached a sample part. I'm doing an adaptive clearing and at the beginning of the operation the tool is taking big chuncks of materials so need to go slow. But when the tool start cutting the dome is barely touching the part so I was wondering if there is a way / trick to increase the feedrate in that area.

Thanks

The easiest thing to do is to simply break it off into two operations. I inserted a 2D Adaptive toolpath to haul out a lot of the material, ignoring the dome. For your existing 3D Adaptive, I set it to "Rest Machining - From Previous Operations". You can then go nuts with your speed and feed where there is light chip load.

See attached file. To open the file: File > New Design from File > Search to where you saved it

Thanks Seth for your replay,

I was thinking to use this to "Request a Feature" What is your opinion about this. In the tool tab to have an option for a variable feetrate with a minimum and maximum feetrate. The feetrate would adjust acording to the load on the tool.

You have more experience than me. What do you think about this?

Thanks

The idea of a variable feedrate has some merit, certainly. However, I suspect there could be some nightmares involved in getting that coded into the CAM kernel, considering that there are far simpler feedrate bugs that are still kicking around. I think that the easier route (for now anyways) is to simply have multiple operations. I'm a large fan of breaking things up among several operations, as it gives me the ability to tailor cutting conditions perfectly. It never hurts though to put that idea out there and see if it gains any traction. I find sometimes that my opinion can be the very small minority
