Drilling Feeds Preset.... Please Change Back...

Hi there I really don't like how the new speeds and feeds options have changed for drilling.

As you can see in "Original Feeds.png" there is both the Feed per revolution and Plunge feedrate which match up and calculate automatically. Both of these are very useful to see to ensure that the correct feed is selected. I use feed per rev for the preset and then check the plunge feed rate to ensure that it looks about right. Now I have to calculate it myself and if I use feed per rev I don't actually know what my feedrate will be. Also if I need to slow down the feed for one reason or another I cannot check both parameters.

In the new update there is now a check box to switch between the two? I don't know why this was necessary, it now only adds extra steps to check feed rates. Also when you put in your feedrate that you want and then tick the box, the feed per rev is not linked to it so you can never check. This is also happens when you do a drilling operation.

Please please please, change it back to how it was it is really annoying and so much more inconvenient. Fusion 360 is about making life easier not harder.

I also am having trouble with this new IPR for drilling feedrates.

When I now post a program the NC Program shows a warning flag that says my post processor does not support IPR.

I understand IPR is useful, but why remove IPT/IPM? Why not show all of the above fields as calculated results tied to each other as it has been?  So the user can enter IPT, IPR, or IPM and the other fields just calculate depending on whichever they choose to use.

The new default is IPM, which I don't usually use for creating drills, I usually would type in the IPT I wanted (or the equivalent IPR) and it would calculate the IPM result. Which gives you an opportunity to inspect both numbers as a sanity check next to each other.

We've heard this feedback loud and clear, and are investigating how quickly we can provide a good solution to this.

Thanks for letting us know that this is being reviewed. I am also struggling with the drill feed settings. I do prefer seeing both FPR and FPM in the same dialogue box and that they update each other when changed. Leaving the checkbox to toggle which feedrate is being posted out. I typically use FPM on the mill and FPR on the lathe. Do you know of an ETA for an update on this?

I'll save you guys some meetings time:

1: Link the 2 values together

2: only use IPR on lathe mode

3: Keep it the way it was, which could mean
4: Show CPT while using Feedrate for "per minute"

I also posted my gripe here

Thank you for letting us know that this is being looked into. However i must voice my opinion on how frustrating this change is. I should not have to calculate my FPR (feed per revolution) every time i look at a drill, FPR is the most important number i need to see when selecting cutting data for a given drill. Unfortunately if i select the "use feed per revolution" option it will post in FPR and my mill will not accept that, it will only take feed per minute. I would really appreciate an explanation of how this decision came to be, I'm sure it would sound less idiotic than what i have in my head at the moment. I can only assume that the check box item should have been implemented to allow a choice of how the cutting data is processed for posting code as either FPR or FPM. Please fix this as soon as possible! Pretty please if it helps.

I'm not trying to be spicy, but is there a reason it takes 6+ weeks to adjust this back?

The change was complex to implement, it wasn't a simple "roll-back". This has been fixed and you should see improvement at the next update 🤞
