Creating Flat pattern for laser cutting

Hi all,

I'm currently creating fabrication files for a chair. There is one element that I am stuck on.

The seat pan is to be laser-cut, then rolled into the modelled form, but I can't seem to convert it to sheet metal to create a flat pattern/DXF.

I've tried offsetting the surface - created a tangent ruled surface from the edge - stitched both surfaces together - thickened to 3mm - then converted to sheet metal. Error comes up saying: Can't calculate body thickness. Select base face.

I've searched for videos online but can't fins a solution.

See pictures attached.

If someone could help, that would be great.

Hi

It would be easier to respond if you attached your file.
