circular interpolation problems, posting out linear moves and cutting facets....

Guys,

I am using fusion 360 to program my Brother S700x1.  Overall I like fusion but sometimes it really drives me crazy...

I have a part that has .08" inch outside corner radii.  Fusion isnt posting out to interpolate this arc, it instead spits out a whole bunch of code and ends up cutting what looks like facets.  I was able to fix one operation by turning smoothing on but another operation continues to cut the facets.........

Here is the output code.

G02 X1.2344 Y-1.7121 I-0.125
G01 X1.2329 Y-1.7278
G02 X1.2281 Y-1.752 I-0.1244 J0.0121
G01 X1.2235 Y-1.767
G02 X1.2142 Y-1.7894 I-0.1196 J0.0364
G01 X1.2068 Y-1.8033
G02 X1.1931 Y-1.8239 I-0.1103 J0.0588
G01 X1.1831 Y-1.836
G02 X1.166 Y-1.8531 I-0.0965 J0.0794
G01 X1.1539 Y-1.8631
G02 X1.1333 Y-1.8768 I-0.0794 J0.0965
G01 X1.1194 Y-1.8842
G02 X1.097 Y-1.8935 I-0.0588 J0.1103
G01 X1.082 Y-1.8981
G02 X1.0578 Y-1.9029 I-0.0364 J0.1196

Anyone have any insight???

I ran into this quite some time ago myself. It turned out to be a combination of settings in Fusion as well as a small issue with the post. Are you using a generic post?

If you don't mind, could you share your .F3D as well as your post? This would help us give you better direction

You quite often get code like that if you are machining around a spline with a 2d op. The 2d op tries to corner round all the short move then the smoothing doesn't work well because of all the line arc moves. You'll find you'll get a far better toolpath if you use a 3d op with smoothing instead. There tends to be a sweet spot for setting the tolerances where smoothing works best, for mm something like 0.01mm for the op tolerance and 0.02mm for smoothing if the 0.03mm total is to big try 0.005mm and 0.01mm

I really cant share the file as its a customers design.  I am running a 3d contour now, hopefully that looks better.  Honestly this is pretty rediculous that a well known company like autodesk would market CAM software that can't even properly cut an outside radii.  Bobcam could cut this feature better.....

Just noticed there is no cutter comp available on the 3d op............................ NOT GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For full 3 axis motion (3D surfacing) good luck finding a CAM package that offers that. Hint: they don't exist

I don't want to sound unkind, in anyway, so consider that in the following...

I don't think the problem entirely exists on the software end.

You can at least post a screenshot of the dialog box you are working in, a small screenshot of the feature you are trying to machine, the post you are using, all without violating customer IP

The last time I tried there was a problem machining around the outside of a spline, take a look at the last few posts in this thread. I just retested that file and it seems to be fixed.Smiley Happy

Here what I get now.

I used these settings.

If you right click and select show toolpath what do you get.

With what I've found retesting the file I had problems with before I wonder what the face you're have trouble with is like to start with. Is there any way you could export just that surface? I guess this is an imported part?
