Chamfer direction change, turning

Hello all,

I am using the turning chamfer function to slip it into the design without changing the model....first time I've tried it.

Question:  it appears that for my outside chamfer, it created a path "front to back".  Any way to change it to "back to front"?  If you read the pop-up help, it speaks about "direction-see below" (see PDF attachment)...yet I can't find it.  What am I missing?

Hi Paul_NextMedicalDesign,

It not so much that it's cutting Front to Back, as it's cutting outside to inside. If you're cutting chamfers on an inside profile, it cuts from the inside to the outside.  If you look at the example in the ToolTip graphic, cutting the opposite side of the OD Groove, It will be cutting Out to In, but also Back to Front. The main reason for this type of cutting direction is because it's the proper way to use that tool. You dont want to pull up with the tool to make a cut. You always want a downward force at the cutting tip.

Thanks for taking the time to comment.....

It might be semantics (but I don't think so).....my simulated and actual tool path for this external chamfer shown in the PDF goes first along the green line, and then chamfers on the blue line (and of course approaches and  retracts on the yellow).  I call this inside-to-outside and more importantly, we are in agreement this is the wrong way to take off a burr (in most cases).  I either have a check-box flipped which I can't seem to find (see previous comment about "direction")....or its a bug?

Red Arrow is the start of the cut.  Red, Yellow, Blue, Yellow, Green.
The tool is sitting at the end of the cut in the picture.

Hi Mike,

I am not really following you.....do you mean the pop-up?  Regardless of what that graphic says, if you look at my part path, the tool goes green line first then blue....which is not what I want it to do.  Again, I think we agree on the goal, Fusion is not doing it.

No, I never got this work.  I assume it is a bug.  I gave-up making chamfers through Fusion and I make them in my model first.
