Cannot Select Tool Path for Carving

This circle has a carve-out of a Greek pattern.  It is continuous around the whole circle.  When I use the carve tool it won't allow me to select the top contours representing the carve boundaries.  It will only allow me to select the boundaries at the bottom of the carvings.  Even then I can only select short line segments at a time and then it won't carve with a smooth and continuous movement.  Is there anything I can do?

OK I remember now in situations like this it will usually work if you select edges that are far apart.

@joel.michalski  Here's how to select without needing a sketch. Quite easy but not obvious!

The original solution offered by Mark allowed me to finish the part per my intention.  Thanks again!

Thanks for this alternative.  I've noticed this bug in trying to cut out complex contour shapes.  Occasionally I could get it to select the whole path if I selected parts of the curve in different locations.

I see that you insist on playing some kind of game in which you always "win" so now I look back on solution and guess what, Mark is telling you to offset face and create sketch then use sketch as geometry instead of trying to pick model edges one at a time.

All I was saying is that I produced that sketch before Mark and you MISSED IT but I couldn't care less for your solution award as it doesn't do a **** thing  for me, do you get it now?

Hi Vic,

The solution you suggested was not the correct solution.  The whole advantage to using the carve tool is to get the sharp corners.  Mark offered the correct solution.  I'm not playing any games - there are no games to play here.  Be well.

I never claimed to have a solution, I only mentioned the fact that sketch was served to you before Mark repeated the whole thing in following post,.......... it was already there, if you want to cut it with engraving tool or crowbar is another issue.

I always look at thread progresion before making a claim or suggestion, if I offer anything I try to make it alternative choice, not repetition of someone else's attempt to solve the issue.

This is really getting on my nerve now.

Actually, look at the title of your post,...... "Cannot Select Tool Path for Carving"

I showed you how to select geometry in file I uploaded,.... you just had to look into it, then again, never mind.
