Can't See 'Model 'Selection in Setup

Hi everyone,

I'm running into an issue creating setups.

I have a design with two bodies in a single component:

One is the part I want to machine; the other is a solid body I’m using as stock

When I go to create a new Setup, I expect to see the "Model" selector (to pick the part I'm machining), but instead, I only see "Envelope" and "Fixture" options. There's no "Model" selection field at all, and I get a warning when I try to proceed saying no body was selected, and all visible bodies will be used.

This causes the stock body to be included as part of the machining model, which obviously creates problems in toolpath generation.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a setting or preference I might be missing that causes the Setup dialog to omit the Model selector entirely?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

The only way I know of to get to that terminology is to use Arrange or Nest and then right click on those elements and select "Create Setups from Arrange/Nest". I don't see those features in your browser, so I'm at a loss as to how you got here.

Would you be able to share your Fusion file here?
File > Export > Save to local folder, return to thread and attach the .f3d/.f3z file in your reply.

Is it possible that you saved the Setup default behaviors from a prior session that DID include Arrange/Nest?

Hey Seth, thanks for the response!

I do believe I could have overwritten the default setup parameters while using a nested or arranged model.

I'm not able to share that file specifically but I made a new one with the same issue which I've attached. It does seem this is the default behavior for my setups.

Yep, that's precisely what happened. Fear not, you can get back to expected behavior with the attached file. Right click on the second setup and select "Save Parameters as Defaults"

Hey Seth,

I was able to fix this by going to an older project and setting my default parameters to that one's.

I was able to re-create the problem the way you described. I created an arrangement inside of a manufacturing model, then created a setup from that arrangement. I then right clicked the setup and saved those parameters as my default. After that, setups only have the envelope selector and are missing the model selector, even on projects without arrangements. It may be a good idea to report this as a bug.

I bet it was! Glad we got it sorted, but sorry you had to go thru this. Hopefully it's something we can address with minimal effort. I think if we had a 3-dot menu next to that field we could avoid this issue in the future
