Cam simulates text correctly but cuts backwards on CNC.

Hello,

Fairly new to Fusion360,using diy CNC called LowerRiderCNC which is working.  I have been able to cut panel and cut pockets.

I am trying to engrave text and the text is being cut backwards.  Instead of "word" it cuts "drow".

Fusion 360 simulate looks correct when run.

My design process is that I create a rectangle and extrude it to the wood height.  On the top of the wood I create new design and place the text (I do have to flip it 180).

Appreciate if you could provide directions of what sequence I need to go through to get this oriented correctly, this has been a very frustrating experience.

Thanks in advance for your time to review and reply.

Any chance you can upload a file to be looked at where you have the issue?

You can upload a file by going to File>Export>choose f3d format>save to a location on your computer> on your next post scroll down to where it says Attachments and use that to upload the file 🙂

For now I think it may possibly be a selection issue or a setup issue.

Attached is a file that I have done as an example, it simulates correctly and the code output is correct way up/around, not knowing what control and/or Post Processor you are using I am unable to say definitively what the issue is, I used the standard Mach3 Post Processor and the code was OK, code file also attached for you to look through and compare to what you already have 🙂

Regards

Rob

You can get the setup of a machine the wrong way around or a different from standard orientation, where it needs to be fixed or the post-processor edited.

As has been said what post-processor are you using and a model that has this problem To attach a file Go to File -> Export and save as a .F3D Archive File and attach it to your next post, if you can not post the file you can PM it to me or say in your next post you can not post the file and one of the Guys that do NDA work will help.

You can run the Gcode through this program your self as well, https://ncviewer.com/

Thanks for you replies.

I have attached the file as requested.

I have tried two different post processors, they exhibit the same behavior with Text.

DYICNC Milling/Laser - Marlin 2.0  / DIYCNC_Marlin20

MPCNC Milling and Laser/Plasma cutter/MPCNC_Mill_Laser

Thanks for your help.

Not having any problems here, just tried the Amada Laser PP and it seems to be fine, simulates right and the code looks good as well.

Slightly modified file attached and the Amada PP, give it a try, if it cuts backwards then I suspect a machine setup issue not a Fusion 360 one 🙂

Your best bet at this stage is to try @engineguy  post, Also, run the G code through this https://ncviewer.com/

If the G code looks good and it is from the same model what @engineguy  posted and tested it is more than likely the machine setup.

Daniel, yep, it does run correctly in the NC Viewer, image below showing that it started at the big S and finished at the small a on the right so as far as I can tell there is nothing wrong with either my model or the code produced using the Omada PP, Omada are one of the top names for Laser machines, along with Mazak, the Omada machines usually have Fanuc controls so are just about "bullet proof", friend of mine has a couple of them and he can really turn out some great stuff pretty fast and accurate so I know that PP works 🙂 🙂 🙂

@Anonymous

See image below from NC Viewer, runs spot on 🙂 🙂

I am afraid that`s all I have for you, have you tried putting your code through the NC Viewer and have you tried my file with the Omada PP ???

Rob

Thanks everyone.

Appreciate the replies.

Going forward I will review the physical set-up and see what I can determine.

Hello everyone,

Just to follow up, with the help of the v1engineering (LowRider cnc) forum, was able to determine that indeed the CNC X direction was backwards and once reversed the text was cut correctly and as shown by Fusion360 simulation.

Appreciate the support!
