I am wanting to cut slots along the horizontal axis of a cylindar.  I can not get the z axis to go perpendicular to my peice.  When I select the z axis in the orientation that I will be machining the stock direction changes.  Any suggestions?

In the stock tab you should be able to select the cylindrical surface to orient the stock to the model.

The trouble with selecting the cylindrical surface is the Z then points along the cylinder not perpendicular to the flat faces or is there something I'm missing.

I think the only option is make a component draw a cylinder to use as the stock and select From solid.

I made a screencast. This should work just fine or there might be something else going on. I did this with both Fixed and Relative sized cylinder stocks.

I must have been asleep still, missed the Axis selection on the stock tab completely.

Thanks Mark
