Bug? Can't use stock faces when probing with WCS while using a solid body as stock

I've noticed this in the past but never really brought it up. When using a solid body as your setup stock Probe WCS only works when selecting model faces, when switching to stock nothing shows up. Usually if you define the stock for example as a fixed size and use probe WCS it will show the stock faces so you can select them.

Here is a test model using stock from solid:

The resulting setup stock looks like this:

When using Probe WCS you nothing shows for stock selection:

When using fixed size stock in setup it works as usual:

I have been banging my head against my desk about this for a few days now.  I referred to some other sample projects and could not understand why this isn't working.

Looks like this was addressed in a previous forum post about a year ago.  Looks to be intentional behaviour.

Hope this helps a bit.  Still a bit frustrating, but I can at least work around this now.

Yeah the "workaround" is what I generally have been doing. Its just annoying to do it that way. Honestly if that is the expected behavior then stock shouldn't be an option if it doesn't do anything, it might be confusing to new people.

@Mattxer @ChristopherMarion  FWIW, we do have a ticket open to improve on this. Of course, the list of improvements is long, so there's no assurance of "when".

2 Full years later and this still is a pain in the rear. Come on Autodesk this is simple stuff it should work as any other stock.

Some two years ago I found a 4 years old thread in which a documentation update was promised to document an obvious bug as an intentional if weird feature. So 6 years later the documentation still does not match the implementation.

As for this issue there is an obvious workaround there is no real pressure to fix it so...

Yeah, but I still would like to see it fixed. I've found the two open tickets on this (CAM-8344 and CAM-14541) and have raised the issue with the team responsible. They're all on holiday break until next week, so I don't expect to hear anything for some time..
