Auto selecting open contours really needs to be rethought

If I'm selecting an open contour (as opposed to a closed contour) please don't automatically make selections that I did not select. I now have to hunt down which selection was automatically excluded:

Real PITB trying to find a contour that's .000001" in length.

Was there supposed to be audio with those two videos? I honestly have no idea what you're trying to do or running into for an issue (obviously, selecting a chain) based off your mouse clicks and panning around.
