I have been wondering if there is any benefit to checking the 'chip thinning' box found in the Face op's Passes tab when facing with a plain ole solid end mill. I know it helps when facing with a large diameter, multi-insert shell face mill, but what if I'm using a 1/8" diameter 2-flute end mill for the facing op? If you have not guessed already, I'm using small desktop milling machines on aluminum and brass here (Carbide 3D Nomad 883, OtherMill Pro and Pocket NC v2) with low-powered spindles.
Chip thinning: Check it, or leave it unchecked?
