Another Update, Another Day fixing problems

This morning's update has riddled multiple files which worked yesterday with a bunch of missing selection errors:

Screenshot 2026-05-28 075306.pngScreenshot 2026-05-28 075330.png

These were working files when I left work yesterday. After update, not so much. This is not isolated to one design file, I checked 2 others.

I guess there is no known cause of this problem since the update was completely vetted as good. Any ideas on how to minimize my fix time?

Files are covered by NDA and cannot be publicly shared. My last foray into online live help appears to have given me an outside contractor without a signed NDA (at least he was honest). How about an honest to goodness Autodesk employee involved with the actual development to help on this one...

Do you have XREF documents involved in the file?

You can send data directly to me:
[email protected]

I'm US based and have signed NDA's, I treat all customer files with the utmost discretion.

If that means I drug components into the file, yes, yes there are.

As long as your email will accept a rather large file:

After attempting to fix a few of the problems, it appears Fusion's internal links to the externally referenced components used for tool path selection are somewhat scrambled. I have contours picked directly from model geometry on a "helper" component (contains fixes to customer missed geometry) which now reference to a xref component in a completely different setup.

Not good.

Yeah, that shouldn't be an issue. Please put it into a ZIP file

Sent @ 9AM this morning. I did not receive any rejection notice, so you should have it.

AFAIK every email works fine to 25mb, and will tell you if you're over.

Hmm. I've not received it, so it's possible that (on our side) the spam filter has placed it in quarantine. This isn't the first time this has happened (and likely won't be the last!). The other option is to right click in the data panel and select "Share Link". Email me that link

(another option is to upload it to a cloud drive (Google, DropBox) and send me that download link)

File attachment sent again. Separate email sent with link in case that does not make it through.

So, the problem is definitely from the xref's getting mixed up/broken. If you want to see the broken file, you will have to use the emailed design file. The linked file is almost fixed, except for me using AI (actual intelligence) to verify tool path unless loading an older version of the linked file gives you the condition it was presented to me this morning.

File is received and the developers will be taking a look at it.

Question; are you a member of the Insider program, and if so, did you have Polar Machining Preview enabled?

So today I go into my second file which was scrambled by yesterday's update and cannot get it to retain the repairs it needs. Every time I go into the setups and reestablish the missing selections, go from manufacture to design back to manufacture, the same selections are missing again:

Screenshot 2026-05-29 100308.png

It has done this to me 4 times this morning. I really need to be able to fix this and make parts. This is a "new" part to us and going in to fix/adjust/tweak tool paths is now impossible. Not to mention I feel really uncomfortable at this point reposting the whole program and just verifying the "tweaks" instead of the whole kit and caboodle. After spending 6 hours reverifying the first file yesterday, this newly added feature ruins my high regards for Fusion.

Is this problem even on the radar for the developers, or am I the only one struggling with this?

If you would like a copy of this file, please say so. I will send it to you.

In the meantime, you can always protect the toolpaths! This works fine as long as you do not edit your WCS location!

Reposting a file is entirely fine if you didnt make any changes (hence locking them).

I will not update for a week or so because of this thread.

Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately, drilling sequences occasionally come up with the red exclamation mark and missing references even when protected. Don't ask me why, don't tell me it can't happen. I have come to learn to live with some of the substandard results from Fusion without complaining after seeing how long basic features go unattended (as in I believe your and others request for 2D contour ordering, tool library integration/communication to tool path entry, etc., etc. ) and the "hey, this is a neat feature" fluff gets added to muck up a well working program.

This problem is very much on the radar for the development team focused on Selections and is being treated with the utmost urgency

Question; when you make the repair and then switch workspaces, is it just the selection that gets dropped in the individual toolpath, or does it also drop the Model/Fixture selection from the Setup?

There are two copies of the xref'd model (OP1/OP2). It appears the copy of the xref'd model in the OP2 setup is initially being pointed to the model in the first setup. Once fixed, this appears to remain attached correctly (at least I believe so for now).

The work offset X/Y/Z and origin point selections are done from a sketch. Once fixed, it appears to get lost after switching workspaces and must be reselected. Being a little more transparent, the model tree is a branch of components:

The blanked-out portions are just the customer part number. Don't know if this means anything, helps, or hurts, but just more useless tidbits of insanity to help scramble the mind beyond the damage inflicted during youth.
