Hi how do I go about cutting this twisted hexagon from a cylinder with the side of the tool (end mill), with the job mounted in a rotary table?

Hello,

Thanks for posting. Are you able to share a copy of the file? I can add some sample toolpaths for you to review

Many thanks

Hi
Thanks, i want to have the cylinder end clamped in the chuck of the rotary table and the thinner end supported with a steady, then coming down with a flat end mill and drop down next to the material and enter it  traveling on Y and as the cutter gradually moves down the X axis ( length of stock ) the rotory table must rotate and the repeat 8 times to leave me with the twisted octagon.

Hello,

Using the 'wrap toolpath' option with 2D contour should produce what you are looking for. Please see the attached example
