3D pocket step down passes wrong?

Hi Forum,

using 3D Pocket to machine a 12 mm deep area I set max. roughing stepdown to a greater value (20 mm).

But Fusion still calculates a toolpath with more than 1 step, see attached screenshot. What´s wrong? Do I have to control the issue in another way?

Thanks for help.

Hi @j2,

When possible use 3D Adaptive. This operation is much smarter in this case

The Pocket operation uses that Flat Area to make that extra stepdown.

Hi Marco,

thanks. Well, I do use adaptive in the prior operation with stock left. The pocket operation is for a clean finish, which can not be provided by adaptive on the radial side.

Any idea, why pocket behaves the way as does?

Hi @j2,

I’m not behind my PC, so I can’t check now.

You can share your model so someone can take a look at it?

If it isn’t possible, split the operation into 2 operations.
