3D Adaptive - Whispy Toolpath

Why do i get these odd little bits of toolpath around the top of my model?

 

I have attached a copy of the model and some screenshots. 

 

Please see the Adaptive part in the CAM section.

Try changing your Minimum Axial Engagement value on the Passes tab to 1mm:

Thanks, Seems to do the trick! Is that more of a workaround though?

 

What exactly does that effect?

 

I still don't understand why it tries to machine there when there is no stock there?

This has to do with the stock STL generated in the background. A tighter tolerance can help, but doesn't always fix the issue with the toolpath seeing triangulated cusps, so you get area recutting. Basically it's not perfect so there are other parameters in the toolpath to help it out Smiley Wink
