2D Pocket with REST Machining

Hello -

I have a warning that I often get with 2D pockets. The warning is:

Enabled feature flags: setup-sheet-viewer

Warning: Skipping a pocket since the rest tool has not removed any material.

Generation completed with 1 warning(s) in 260.4ms.

In this case I am cutting stainless and successively use smaller endmills. I start with a 1/4" then use 1/8" and do a final clean up pass with 1/16". The first pass is just a clearing pass but I do not leave any radial excess material. I use a minimum radius of 0.0" on all tools (which may be a mistake). After I cut the with 1/4" I use REST machining with the other 2 cutters. Both have the Warning listed above. By the simulation it does NOT appear that it is miscutting the part. However, the Warning is not clear.

Is the Warning indicating that it is skipping one of the profiles or is skipping all of them? Should I be setting a different minimum cutting radius for each of the cutters? I assumed that it would calculate the minimum internal radius based on the tool diameter. Is this incorrect?

Thanks,

Joe.

I think the best thing would be if you shared your file, can you do that? It's not entirely clear what is being conveyed by that error message.

To share; right click on the file in the data panel and select "Share Public Link"

1st line: you enabled a feature flag in the preview area in your preferences to enable the setup sheet viewer.  Generic warning, nothing to do with your toolpath.

2nd line:  See the picture below, it skipped those areas where I point with an arrow.  These were certainly cut completely with your 1st tool, so no rest material, this message is letting you know that.  To prove that, remove those areas where the previous tool would have cut it completely and this line will not be generated as a warning anymore.  For you though, you said the pocket was cut correctly, you can just ignore the warning, but if you are like me and like it clean, remove those selections where the previous tools would have cut it complete.

Thanks! My personality to get rid of warnings (or at least understand them)! I think this will get me to the bottom of the issue.
