2 sided setup

hello

 

I have a part that needs to be machined on 2 sides

In the first setup i remove the most of the material

For the backside i make a new setup 

How can i include the already removed materiaal form setup 1 in this setup

There are couple things you could do:

First would be to make a separate solid model depicting what you have intended, or as close as possible. You would use this as the basis for your second op. Sometimes that is a simple proposition, and other times, not so much, depending on the complexity of the part and the stock you are working with.

The other option, and I would use this route only if the first option isn't practical:

CAM Simulation, turn Stock on, mode set to Standard (not Fast 3 axis). Run Simulation to the end on the first op. Right click, Stock, Save Stock.

This will save the stock as an .stl. You can then import the .stl, but you first need to turn off History, click on Insert, and then Insert Mesh. Don't forget to turn your History back on!

And it's often the case that the mesh needs to be imported in MM form, regardless of the parent document units

sorry more questions now i never worked with stl file's

ok 

folowed your guide

simulate to end

created a stl file

went to model

insert mesh

got a new body with a meshbody

back to cam

new setup

but i can't do anything  with that

most i do sommething first with the meshbody

Sorry, I forgot a step.

Right after you have imported the .stl, while you are still in "Do Not Capture Design History" mode, you need to Right Click on the new meshbody and click Mesh to BRep. Save it as a new body.

Unfortunately, I do not know what to do about the large amount of triangles......

and there it stops

too much  triangles

i will make a extra component that act as stock

Yeah, it's typically not that hard to make an extra component with stock on in certain areas. Fusion does make it easy in some areas

still problems

 

made a new component : model + not removed material

 

new setup

- operation : milling

- placed my wcs

- model : body (component of the model i made)

-stock : from solid - body (new made component)

 

when i klick the setup i see the stock transparant en my model

but now wich operation i do it always make's toolpaths where there is no material

 

i include my model this time

So the 3D toolpaths use a top-down approach. Your stock is, from the top, a rectangular block. If you use a 3D Adaptive and only have it clear the top 1/4" or so and turn on Rest Machining for successive operations you will see that the "shadowing effect" goes away.

 

Edit: nevermind, apparently I'm wrong. Silly that this hasn't been implemented yet. It exists in HSMWorks and works well.

yes that is what i want

i only set the depht as model bottom

and then the tool is going down in steps with the same toolpath

so you have a lot air cutting

 

i will make multiple operations

the 2 you have made

- a ruffing contour at the half circle and the 2 pillars

- a finnishing contour at the half circle and the 2 pillars

- contour with ballmill for the fillet
