Workflow history as part of the item details

Presently you can only view the workflow history when viewing the workflow. Is the there the possibility of including option to view the workflow history in the item details tab. At a glance, this would give the user an overview of where the record has been to in the workflow without actually having to view the workflow.

Hi Jon,

There is no solution out of the box to view the history directly in Item Details.

One "simple" way of doing this is to create a custom field in Item Details, read only (let's call it workflow_change) .

You can create an action script that would take the current workflow state and "append" it to the workflow_change field of your item details.

If you associate the action script to every workflow transition, then everytime a transition to a new state will happen, your workflow_change field will be updated. 

That will give you a workflow history field.

Hi Dany. Thanks for your response. We've written workflow history to a paragraph field before but it is time consuming and not particularly tidy looking. What I'm suggesting is another method of viewing workflow history rather than having to view if via the workflow. Many of our users don't want to view workflows and instead just transition from the item details. However, worflow history is of interest and a button which opened a history dialog box would be a useful aid.
