Replace a part in multiple BOMS

Say an user want to replace a

       "Steel Nut-8" : rootDMSID=1234

        With

       "Plastic Nut-8" : rootDMSID=5678

in multiple/all boms. 

Current flow:

1) User has to replace the part in the working version of every assembly where the part (Steel Nut) appears. This can take for ever.

2) Make a change order with all these assemblies and release it.

Proposed workflow:

1) Make a change order and click on "Replace part" in the "Affected items" tab.

2) Select the "Outgoing" and "Incomming" part.

3) Select the BOMs that need to be changed -OR- select ALL

4) Release the change order.

Im working on "Affected Items" as part of my notmal work and will add more technial details as i go along.

Greetings, Thanks for the comments. We'll review be request in detail and follow up if there are further question or comments. Presently you may do the following; - add the steel nut to an ECO and - within the tab run the 'include related (BOM) items' action selecting all (direct) parents and they would be added to the ECO. - Then visit the parents and modify their BOM to replace with plastic nut. - Add the plastic nut to the ECO as well. - Submit for CCB and if the approval board agrees, release the change completing the use case. I was not aware of the feature "include related (BOM) items" thats very useful.

I still feel a "replace" option is useful 

1) We remove the manul work of deleting the old part , every where it is at the First level

2) We can show the NEW-OLD part as replaced in BOM-Compare (This is not same as Deleting a part and adding a new Part in a BOM). This is technicall much tougher though .

Simple Delete-Insert in multiple BOMs should be easy as its basically an existing feature, we are just spreading it to work on multiple BOMs
