Pop-up message box option

Would it be possible to allow for a message box to prompt the user instead of a validation.  

I would like the option to display a message box instead of a validation script. i.e. if field 1 was blank, the message box would say "There is no data in field 1, do you wish to continue?"  The user could then select ok and continue to the next state, rather than select cancel, edit workspace, fill field 1 with n/a or similar, and then proceed.
