Multiple Grid Tabs

Multiple Grid Tabs

Like this idea from 4 years ago, we need the ability to have multiple gridtabs for a record. We're definitely limited in what we can do with just a single gridtab.

For example, we have a workspace of projects. I'm currently using the gridtab to list out all the associated charge numbers available for the project.

Now I want to have another gridtab that I can aggregate up the hours entered from a time sheet workspace. I can't do this with a single gridtab.

Yes we to need multiple grid tabs, We use the relationship and managed items tab for more than their intended purpose to allow links to other workspace item where processing is taking place. We use these tabs on our project master workspace to show status and roll up info & values, but because they are not grid tabs we have to use manual scripts to help maintain & update.

This would be a huge improvement to FLC. It would mean that we could gather a lot of information in one workspace rather than multiple different ones.

Remember though, it should be possible to script info in and out of the different grids, so each grid should have each own ID. Today it is item.grid.FIELD_ID, so it needs something like item.grid.*gridID*.FIELD_ID.

Status changed to: Future Consideration

Hi folks,

Just a quick update on this idea here - it's still under Future Consideration. It's not completely off the books, but not something we are considering in the most immediate future.

Thanks,

@giliar.defriesperez still would love to see some level of a roadmap for FLC to understand what Autodesk is focused on. Just like the other Autodesk beta programs, having a few month outlook would be tremendously helpful.

Hi @ThomasRambach @andrew.pitman @Anonymous @Anonymous,

Are you guys willing to discuss some more use cases in support of multiple grid tabs?

Thanks

@amitabh_verma Hi,

Yes I would be pleased to discuss some use cases with you. Please also include @ian.slater in any conversations on this topic from our side.

Thanks,

@amitabh_verma Yes. We're new feature starved with Fusion360 Manage. This seems like an easy one. Let me gather my info and I'll be ready.

I just voted for this based on a customer request, and I can provide some use case information too if interested. My customer has a workspace now that could benefit from at least 3 unique grid tabs with different behaviors.

While we can often accomplish things like this by using the Relationship tab, for many things it doesn't make sense to create a whole new workspace to create records just so you can link to them. Two examples would be more detailed approver/reviewer comments on a Change Request or Change Order (aside from what a participant enters in a Transition comment) and the need to supply information about an arbitrary number of records from another business system (e.g. SAP Change Master records with their associated Validity Dates).

We would need that functionality as well. Using FM for ECRs, the limitation to one grid is very frustrating.

Imaging that you are going to change a dispatch bag by replacing a screw with another screw inside it. The dispatch bag can go to "Affected Items", but the screw can't, as this will lock the screw for any other ECR, though it is not really changed at all.

Still I need to transport that information to procurement somehow. Having that information in the text on the details tab solely does not seem right.
