Modern UI: Ability to Create Views with Filters

Currently in Modern UI, you can only Duplicate a view, but you can't create, filter, or edit. This makes the UX very hard since you see a lot of unnecessary information.

Thanks for the feedback! I wanted to take this opportunity and share with you some designs we are currently working on to address this need. These capabilities will start showing up in our Beta environment within the next few weeks and in the production environment in an upcoming release.

Filter

Following some research we decided to support filtering of data on a column by column basis. This is more recognizable to users that are familiar with Excel and is easier to read. In addition, it allows us to support OR conditions for data in a column.

The user will have the ability to specify either an OR or an AND condition for data within a column. Filters for different columns are assumed to have an AND condition between them. This is similar to Excel. Every column will a filter will have an indication at the column header.

If there are any filters on data that is not in the current view, the user will have an indication at the top of the screen that additional filters are defined

Sorting

We intend to support sorting on any column. Columns that are sorted will have a bold header and an arrow identifying the direction of the sort

Yes, you will be able to save those views. Meaning that the filter information and the sort information are stored when you store the view. 

And yes, it is slated for the March release but as always there are no guarantees.

We implemented creation of views in Modern. Filtering and editing are already available. I'm changing this idea to IMPLEMENTED, and we look forward to further feedback on enhancing the workspace views functionalities.
