Logout/Timeout Notification for Idle Sessions

Logout/Timeout Notification for Idle Sessions

Not sure when this became and issue, but the uptime or time a user is kept logged in on an static web page seems to have been shortened.

This happens mostly when a user is idle on a workspace for some time. The issue is that they will then proceed with editing the record and not know they have been logged out.

Two things can happen at that point.

1. Some of the picklist fields etc. will either not show data or give errors as the user is not logged in for the picklist query to execute.

2. The user completes the edit and hits save and is notified (Stop Right There!!) or other error and the record is not updated.

It would be benificial to have a visual notification on the banner/header (maybe next to the User & Help menu items to have an icon showing login status.

At least the users could have a way to know the status of any idle sessions. Can't stop users from blindly going ahead and trying to update anyway but at least they were given the option.

Hi Bob, we willl support this initiative. Short of introducing new UI functionality that configures and promptswe intend to extend the session timeout to provide more leg room. I'll update this thread with details when this event happens.

Hi Bob and the rest of community, I am happy to share that we've extended PLM UI session timeout from 30min to 90min long. Hope this helps with long running edit item modes. Please share feedback here.
