Improvements to Modern UI Workspace View Column Interactions

Improvements to Modern UI Workspace View Column Interactions

Hello Autodesk Community,

This Idea is being submitted on behalf of Ross Dickson with Astro Lighting.

The customer would like to see some improvements made to the Workspace View column interactions and their intuitiveness. Currently, there is no clear indication that the Workspace View columns can be dragged and dropped for rearrangement.

My personal observations:[ The only indication that does appear is the Open Hand/Grip cursor if you mouse over the column filter icon, or sometimes just below it. When and where this cursor change occurs is inconsistent, and sometimes dragging and dropping simply doesn't work from anywhere around or on the filter icon. ]

Overall, the customer would like these interactions to be more intuitive, consistent, and clearly indicated from a UI perspective.

Agreed! Currently non-heavy users of the system need some training in order to discover these features exist and how to use them. The drag and drop in Modern UI is more intuitive than it was, but still needs improvement.

Could you please improve it? The fact to move a column before or after another one was a good feature of the Classic UI. Now, in the Modern UI, we are forced to removed the columns and add them in the order we want which is a waste of time if you daily work with PLM (and create as many as view as I want is not a solution because the requirements are never the same)

This feature is actually already implemented and is in production. The 'trick' is that you have to click once on each column header you want to move to select it, and then drag it to its' new location. The View will automatically save when you do that. Please give it a try!

Hi Hagay,

Thx, I didn't saw the trick. I am really happy to do it faster now.

Thank you very much,

Sylvain
