Import tool needs to allow special characters in Revision field

In our General Settings, we have the Revision Number Generation set to "Manual" in order to allow us to follow our Customer's revision schemes.

We do have some revisions with special characters in them. The most common is "--", which in some drafting realms indicates an initial drawing revision. Even something like "A.1" does not work. The import tool cannot handle this. It is preventing the upload of items into PLM360 for us.

This in our view is a major bug and needs to be addressed or an alternative method to uploading items needs to be provided by Autodesk in order to get the items into the system.

If there is a setting that I'm missing, please advise. Otherwise please consider fixing this soon.

I agree! a Free form Revision should be able to be imported! we also run into this issue.

to get around this I leave the LifeCycle blank and the revision, or just not map these fields. they get imported as an unreleased items then I use a Change Order to release the Items at the REV they need. 

this is painful if there are multiple items and could be avoided with this addition/Fix

I really don't want to do anything manual in our case. We have over 250,000 items to load.

We (at Autodesk) are treating this as a bug. Expect to see a fix for this in the next release of PLM 360.

that is the only way I can figure out how to import these type of items but it's very painfu
