Allow image fields in grid tab

Allow image fields in grid tab

This request was originally made back in 2014, was accepted but never implemented.

The grid tab should support image type fields. This would massively improve its usefulness to us.

We currently use the item details tab to record inspection criteria with images, but this requires a huge number of fields to be set up to accommodate the worst case. Allowing images in the grid would allow only as many rows as are necessary.

This would be a great improvement to F360M and I am surprised this suggestion does not get more support!

I have made attempts to use F360M for digital proceedures and in such applications you NEED an image field accessible from within an expandable list (i.e. the Grid).

I have also considered to create WS for MoM but just skipped it since my MoMs typically include images/snapshots. Thus my MoMs are just written in office files like before but it is an example of application that would be fantastic as WS in F360M just if images could be included in the Grid.

Bumping this to the top of the list as it continues to be an issue for us and I would like it to be considered at the upcoming ITF session.

Example use case:

Inspection reports - through the use of pre-set templates, the grid tab could be used to capture the report form, allowing more flexibility and relevance to the points to be covered in the inspection, currently we have a static form in Item Details with all possible points, most of which are redundant on any given item.

Other use cases we have are variations of this same issue, using a matrix in item details with a huge number of rows to capture all possible lines is far from ideal, and images are often a critical piece of information to accompany lists of content.

I am aware of the workaround of using a URL field and a computed field to display the image at that URL but the user experience to locate the URL is clunky compared to just having an Image field type. A further question on this for the Autodesk folks tagged below: are boxcloud.com attachment URLs static? If not, then the above workaround will not work for us as we would be utilising URLs from files uploaded to the Attachments tab within Fusion Manage.

Bumping this for further consideration and voting.

The lack of image fields in the Grid continues to be an issue for us. The alternative of having Item Details matrices with multiple rows of often redundant fields is not ideal. Enabling image fields in the Grid would open up many much better possibilities for us relating to recording inspection reports, quality criteria and knowledge base applications.

I am aware of the workaround of using a URL field and a computed field to display the image at the URL but the user experience for this is clunky. Besides it is not clear if the URLs to files stored in the Attachments tab (e.g. on boxcloud) are static.

@amitabh_verma can you confirm? I would like this request to be considered at the upcoming ITF.
