FLC tool is lacking a way to report items with BOM. If there would have been a OOTB field on an item in Items and BOMs workspace storing a value which designates an item as BOM then it would have been easier for the user to build a report to list items with BOM.
not sure if this will help you but- we created a field called Item Type in our Items and BOMs workspace. we have several item types but one is Assembly/Bill of Materials and another is Inventory Item. I set up a report to filter for this field with any thing that contains Assembly, then Added the field Part/Process to my report with QTY so it will list all the assemblies and BOMs for those assemblies. I'm also filtering for other fields like Product type. so this will narrow down the list to just what I was looking for.
In fact we do have Item Type attribute on items in Items & BOMs workspace and set it to BOM for all the items/versions which are BOMs.
We have migrated over 6000 single level BOMs from our legacy system to FLC using BOM import tool/script provided by Autodesk. There are bunch of BOMs which could not be imported due to invalid data which doesn't confirm with FLC. So, we ended up with items with empty BOMs (with Item Type as BOM having no BOM children) and needed to identify those candidates to flag them until we further investigate the legacy BOM data, correct/fix and import BOMs into those items.
BTW I could come up with a report to find out empty BOMs by adding a clause Quantity (OOTB BOM field) and setting it to "Is Blank". I didn't expect that that would really work. But, surprisingly it worked.
