Team organization and library sharing

So we are switching to fusion 360 electronics as our new cad design for pcb and schematic designs.

I want to know the best way for us to set-up our team and library.

So say we are a company composed of 3 electronics engineers (just for example) and each member is known as A, B, C.

Each member is working on his/her own project known as A.1, A.2, A.3, etc... (Of course, A and B may some time work together on the same project A.1 in the future but I believe that should not be a problem in the first place, given that we are all (A, B, C) in the same fusion team in our current set-up.)

Naturally, each project may have a specific part not used in other projects. Also, it is possible to have A use same part in project A.1 like B in project B.1 but different footprints.

I would like to organize our set-up such that we have a master library of components (schematic symbols, component/footprints and 3d files) where we all have access to (read, create new file, edit current files).

What I did were the following:

1. make a fusion team where me (A) invited B and C.

2. Made a "project" that contained different electronics library file (ex. capacitor, resistor, connector, pinheader, crystals, etc..). I renamed this project to "electronics library" to convey its usage.

3. Each member will simply create a project for each project they are working on. Assuming A, B, C are working on 3 projects each (A.1, A.2, A.3, B.1, B.2, B.3, C.1, C.2, C.3), then there will be 9 projects for these.

4. All projects will use the same electronics libraries from the project "electronics library". To allow different footprints, we plan on simply making variants or new entries to the library itself.

My questions are:
1. Is this the optimal way of doing this? Do you have any suggestions that may allow us to better organize our team/set-up?

2. Would it be better for each of us to have our own fusion teams (create team for each member) and have an invite/share link of the electronics library only?

3, Who should be together in a fusion team? All electronics engineers in our company? Or electronics engineers in our company working on same projects? (A, B working project A,1)

4. If we opt to just work on our own fusion teams instead of all members on 1 fusion team, is there a way to share a single project containing electronics library across all three members each on three different fusion teams?

As we are still starting on using fusion 360 electronics, we are very open to suggestions so that we get the best start we can have.

Hi @ferrerCBW3T ,

your setup sounds very reasonable for me. Three electronics engineers in one team working on different projects and using libraries from a common libraries project. That's how I would have set it up too.

In case you wanted to invite others to the team you could do and give access on project level. That's fine, I think.

If you want to share with others who should just see what's going on in the project or may give comments and the like, share a web link with them and they can access via the web browser. All good for me.  🙂

Hi @ferrerCBW3T,

I hope you're doing well. I agree with Richard, it's best for all the engineers to be on the same hub. A single libraries project to contain all of the team's libs. I would add that it may be a good idea to have a trash project where you can put things you don't want to see anymore.
