Is there any way to add custom 3D model to many components at once?

Hello,

I've created PCB with a lot of the same components. Now I want to add custom 3D model to all of them. I was able to do it by clicking Add Custom 3D Model but when I add it, it's only connected to one specific component, not for all of them that are the same. Is there any easier way insted of doing the same process for all of them?

Hi @fabianolczak22
To accomplish this, you will want to attach the model to the component in the library, then the two will be associated across all instances.
Do you have a library where these components reside?  From the library editor you can right-click a footprint and hit "Create New 3D Model", then insert the model and align it over the footprint.
Once you have done this, you can save the library, and update the design to use the newer version and you should see the model on all of the components.
Let me know if you run into any trouble.

Hi @fabianolczak22,

I hope you're doing well. The right-click add 3D model option is meant for one-off overrides not as the primary way to assign 3D models. The easiest way to add 3D models is to do it in the library, this is something you will only have to do once. From there, every single instance will automatically have the 3D model assigned to it.

In this video of the library creation series I cover how to assign 3D models in the library.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.
