Fusion 360 Electronics: Parts Numbering with Multi-Tiered Modules

I have a modular design which is 3 levels deep.

The top level module instances can be assigned an Offset (e.g. 100, 200) which subsequently numbers the parts contained therein, e.g. instead of capacitors C1, C2, they are numbered as C101, C102, etc.

Now, the module instances which are at level 2 and 3 do NOT have an Offset, so the parts numbering now breaks down and all parts are numbered with a Java-like namespace convention, e.g. if capacitor C2 is located in module P1, which is in module A1, then C2 would appear as "A1:P1:C2".

So, my questions:-

1. Is it possible to assign an Offset to module instances located themselves within a module?

2. If not, how should I overcome the different part numbering schemes which result in a multi-tiered modular design?

System: Macos v10.15.7 Retina

Fusion 360: v2.0.9512

Thanks

Hi @mphatak68,

Unfortunately, once you go deeper than one level you can't add any offsets. This is a limitation of the current implementation. Restructuring heirarchy is high on the todo list but for now unfortunately, we don't have a good solution to deal with the "Java-like namespace convention".

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.
