Since the current patch, neither an existing 3d PCB can be updated nor a new PCB can be created.
When starting the process, Fusion360 completely hangs and nothing happens for hours until killing it via taskmanager.
I hope you are doing well!
Would you mind describing the issue with more details?
Do you use the Derive PCB from sketch to create the 3D PCB? or you just click View 3D PCB from 2d PCB?
If you don't mind, please attach any screenshot or video to show the issue. Thanks in advance!

Yeah, thanks, i'm doing fine. Hope you are doing well too!
It doesn´t matter wether creating a new 3D PCB from 2D PCB or click "view 3D PCB" - button. Both are not working... the update and converting process stucks at some point.
Thanks for your reply. I do some testing for viewing 3D PCB and it works well for me.
Do you mean that creating an empty 3D PCB will have same issue? It is very strange.
Would you mind recording a video to show the issue? Thanks a lot!

Would you mind confirming if this issue happens to all your files?
If it only happens in one special file, please invite me into your project to have a look.
I will send my email to you as a private message.
Thanks in advance!

It is quite simple... I just click on "view 3D PCB" to update the 3D PCB because 2D and 3D are out of sync when I made changes to 2D PCB. (same happens if creating a new 3D PCB from 2D PCB by clicking "view 3D PCB" if 3D PCB does not exist)
Fusion then switches to 3D PCB, progress bar (right bottom corner) appears and never changes, after a while windows message "Program does not respond" appears.
CPU stays at around 6.25% load (i9 9900k, 8C/16T, 64GB). Thats it... nothing more happens.
See the screenshot. This design was affected by the milestone bug. Could it be, that this bug is still present in specific parts?
Taskmanager-Screenshot: Load nailed at around 6.25%, private bytes and working set is nailed too, after reaching that values.
Thanks for your screenshot. I am not quit sure about the reason of this issue.
I have sent my eamil address to you as a private message. It would be great if you can invite me into your project to have a look. Thanks!

This error does not affect all my project. Another smaller project is converting.
Creating a copy (as you mentioned in the milestone-bug workaround) does not fix that issue.
Thanks for inviting me into your hub. I think it works and I can see your project now.
I do some testing and find that it really shows the performance issue.
But I also notice that you have more than 1000 devices in the 2d PCB.
Would you mind confirming if 'View 3D PCB' works well for you when you use the 2d PCB which has more than 1000 divices before?

Panpan Fan
there is a performance issue, that´s right. Updating/creating the 3D- board took several minutes (3 to 5). But since the last update I can leave it for hours and nothing happens.
Yes, I can see you in my members list... don´t now what was happening there.
btw.: the performance issue increased as polygons where filled. Then it took up to 20mins. But before the last update.
Thanks for your comment. I will report this issue to our develop team and will keep you updated when I get more information.

Hi @HouseOfMollari ,
So sorry to hear that you're having trouble.
We have identified the issue which was caused by Vias handling. Please stay tuned and we will keep you be posted once the fix is ready for you ASAP.
So sorry for any inconvenience!

Helen
I am also having a similar problem with large numbers of devices and vias. For most projects that need a 3d pcb model for checking fit and clearances the vias are cool but not needed. Perhaps the ability to exclude vias or include in sketch like the trace options would greatly improve performance. A better option would be to select holes based on diameter and only render holes larger than that diameter.
That´s a great suggestion. I think in most cases we need only the 3d parts and holes. A selection menu with options, what to convert and to render would increase performance significantly.
for mechanical fit tests we don´t need vias, traces, copperplanes... (copperpads should be important for mounting holes...)
Does anyone know how to export layers in to dxf files? In order to work with my mechanical fixture I had to export the board to eagle 9.0 format. Then export the dxf file from eagle. Then open the dxf file in fusion. Then copy to a sketch. It would be nice to be able to copy electrics layers to sketches in fusion and not just convert pcb to 3d. I often create outlines for mechanical features directly in the pcb file. Would be nice to be able to project these 'user layers' in my geometries or import sketches from fusion into a specified layer in Eagle. Are there any plans for more integration like this or is there a work around for getting 2d pcb layers into sketches without needing to use eagle 9? Sorry if this should have been a new thread!
Hi @Anonymous ,
I hope you're doing well. For now you can use the CAM processor to generate a DXF in Fusion 360. That would be able to sidestep the trip to EAGLE. We definitely want the integration to get tighter as times goes on but it's not currently possible project copper layers directly onto an enclosure.
Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.
Best Regards,
Filling Polygons in PCB takes a very long time in my design too on a i9 - 9900k . Does that via handling issue affect polygon filling? If not, it would be nice to take a look at this.
